Saint Paul College A Community & 技术学院

New Faculty Academy

Saint Paul College invests in new faculty through a New Faculty Academy that provides the support new faculty members need as they get acclimated to the College. The New Faculty Academy includes a three-day orientation, 指导, monthly lunch and learn sessions, and formative observations.

Three-Day 取向

The three-day orientation gives new faculty a big picture overview of Saint Paul College. During the orientation, new faculty get the opportunity to meet college leadership and the faculty union president to discuss being a faculty member at the College. New faculty members will hear from a student panel and a faculty panel who talk about expectations from different perspectives. There is also time to learn about Saint Paul College policies and procedures and begin working on syllabi.

指导

Each new faculty gets a mentor who is a seasoned faculty member from their division. Mentors help new faculty understand the culture of Saint Paul College, help identify evidence-based practices in teaching and learning, and serve as a resource.

午餐和学习

New Faculty 午餐和学习 takes places once per month. New Faculty 午餐和学习 is a time for new faculty to learn about varying resources that the College has such as Student Rights and Responsibilities, 图书馆服务, 建议, 学生生活, 等. It is also an opportunity for new faculty to come together and discuss teaching and learning and state their professional development needs.

Formative Observation

New faculty members are observed once per semester. If a member of the Academic Effectiveness and Innovation Center does the observation, it is used as a formative assessment for faculty professional development needs. If an Academic Dean does the observation, it is used as an evaluation.
